Ellipsoidal Calculus, Singular Perturbations and the State Estimation Problems for Uncertain Systems

    Get PDF
One of the basic elements of dynamic modelling of complex systems is the linkage and synchronization of subsystems that develop in different time scales. The relevant techniques applied here are related to a singular perturbation theory for differential systems. A more complicated issue arises for uncertain systems described by differential inclusions, for which an appropriate theory is being developed. In order to make the theory constructive, some further steps are necessary. These are presented in this paper, where a computer-implementable "ellipsoidal" version is given. The results are particularly relevant to the linkage of models related to environmental, demographic and economic problems

Generating Abstractive Summaries from Meeting Transcripts

Summaries of meetings are very important as they convey the essential content of discussions in a concise form. Generally, it is time consuming to read and understand the whole documents. Therefore, summaries play an important role as the readers are interested in only the important context of discussions. In this work, we address the task of meeting document summarization. Automatic summarization systems on meeting conversations developed so far have been primarily extractive, resulting in unacceptable summaries that are hard to read. The extracted utterances contain disfluencies that affect the quality of the extractive summaries. To make summaries much more readable, we propose an approach to generating abstractive summaries by fusing important content from several utterances. We first separate meeting transcripts into various topic segments, and then identify the important utterances in each segment using a supervised learning approach. The important utterances are then combined together to generate a one-sentence summary. In the text generation step, the dependency parses of the utterances in each segment are combined together to create a directed graph. The most informative and well-formed sub-graph obtained by integer linear programming (ILP) is selected to generate a one-sentence summary for each topic segment. The ILP formulation reduces disfluencies by leveraging grammatical relations that are more prominent in non-conversational style of text, and therefore generates summaries that is comparable to human-written abstractive summaries. Experimental results show that our method can generate more informative summaries than the baselines. In addition, readability assessments by human judges as well as log-likelihood estimates obtained from the dependency parser show that our generated summaries are significantly readable and well-formed.Comment: 10 pages, Proceedings of the 2015 ACM Symposium on Document Engineering, DocEng' 201

Comparative Analysis of the Legal Regulation of Civil Liability for Harm Caused to Human Life and Health

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is a comparative analysis of the legal regulation of civil liability for harm caused to human life and health by activities that create an increased danger to others in Russia and foreign countries. Due to the intensive development of new technologies and the emergence of new sources of increased danger, there is a need to specify the concept of «activities that create increased danger to others» in Russian legislation. The subject of the article is the norms of law of Russian and foreign legislation regulating the institution of civil liability for harm caused to human life and health by activities that create an increased danger to others. The article is written using General scientific, philosophical and special legal methods of cognition. Based on the results, the article assesses the specifics of regulating harm caused by activities that create an increased danger to others in foreign legislation. Based on the research, it is proposed to distinguish the concepts of «source of increased danger» and «activities that are associated with increased danger to others» in Russian legislation, adding a note to article 1079 of the Civil code of the Russian Federation, as well as to specify the list of sources of increased danger, including unmanned vehicles and fighting dogs

DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AS A TOOL OF SYSTEM CHANGES IN THE TEACHER’S PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Purpose: Social and cultural prerequisites of Russia’s transition to an open information society have predetermined new requirements for graduates of modern educational organizations, ready for communicative activities in a digital educational environment. Informatization of education is characterized by increasing virtualization of the educational process and, as a consequence, the predominance of fragmented thinking, and increase in the gap between traditional and innovative educational technologies. Methodology: The basis of the digital educational environment in the context of the use of knowledge management technologies can be specialized knowledge management systems that combine knowledge of related scientific disciplines, which should provide integration, accumulation, and support, as well as the organization of access to knowledge of the educational environment. A distinctive feature of the development of mankind at the present stage is the transition to information society in which information and information processes are becoming one of the most important components of human life and society. Result: The development of the global process of informatization of society leads to the formation of not only the new information environment for people but also new, information way of their life and professional activities. Many researchers as the most acute problem of modern education called the mismatch of software, including for educational purposes, to high technical characteristics of computers, resulting in extremely low efficiency of computer use in training. Critically assessing the effectiveness of the existing software of the educational process and the ways of its development, we see the prospects for a radical change in the situation in the orientation to the use of knowledge management technologies that use software products that can be changed, adapting to the needs of the user and, in particular, to the didactic tasks of training. Applications: This research can be used for universities, teachers, and students. Novelty/Originality: In this research, the model of Digital Educational Environment as a Tool of System Changes in the Teacher’s Professional Activity is presented in a comprehensive and complete manner

Peculiar nature of hard X-ray eclipse in SS433 from INTEGRAL observations

The analysis of INTEGRAL observations (2003-2008) of superaccreting galactic microquasar SS433 at precessional phases with the maximum disk opening angle is carried out. The shape and width of the primary X-ray eclipse is found to be strongly variable suggesting additional absorption in dense stellar wind and gas outflows from the optical A7I-component. The joint modeling of X-ray eclipse and precessional X-ray variability by a geometrical model suggests the binary mass ratio q=m_x/m_v=0.3, allowing an explnation of peculiarities of the optical variability of SS433, in particular, the substantial precessional variability at the primary optical eclipse minimum. For the mass function of the optical star f_v=0.268 M_\odot as derived from Hillwig and Gies (2008) data, the obtained q yields the masses of the components m_x=5 M_\odot, m_v=15 M_\odot, confirming the black hole nature of the relativistic object in SS433. The independence of the observed hard X-ray spectrum on the precession phase suggests that hard X-ray emission is formed in an extended hot corona. The Monte-Carlo simulations of the broadband X-ray spectrum of SS433 at the maximum disk opening precessional phases allowed us to determine physical parameters of the corona (temperature T_{cor}=20 keV, Thomson optical depth \tau=0.2), and to estimate the jet mass outflow rate \dot M_j=3\times 10^{19} g/s yielding the kinetic power of the jets \sim 10^{39} erg/s.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures, Proc. 7th INTEGRAL Workshop, Copenhagen, 8-11 September 200

Determination of composition and fluidity of an alloy for impregnating hard alloys on the basis of titanium carbide

    Get PDF
In this paper optimum compositions of a metal bond of Cr – Ni - Co system are determined by mathematical planning methods. As a response function, value of bending strength at a temperature of 800 °C was used. On the basis of the developed planning matrix samples of required composition were made, bending strength and long-term strength are measured. A certain composition of alloy-bond and its quantity is found. Spiral tests were conducted to determine fluidity

Study of the Fast X-Ray Transient XTE J1901+014 Based on INTEGRAL, RXTE and ROSAT Data

    Get PDF
The source XTE J1901+014 discovered by the RXTE observatory during an intense outburst of hard radiation and classified as a fast X-ray transient is studied. The source's spectral characteristics in the quiescent state have been investigated for the first time both in the soft X-ray energy range (0.6-20 keV) based on ROSAT and RXTE data and in the hard energy range (>20 keV) based on INTEGRAL data. A timing analysis of the source's properties has revealed weak nonperiodic bursts of activity on time scales of several tens of seconds and two intense (\sim0.5-1 Crab) outbursts more than several hundred seconds in duration. Certain assumptions about the nature of the object under study are made.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure
